Martha’s Vineyard is perhaps the best fishing destination on the East
Coast and fishing onboard the 32’ Wayfarer with seasoned Captain Ed Jerome will make it an experience to remember. Big striped bass and bluefish arrive in mid May and stay through October. Large “doormat” fluke are best in July and August. The “speedsters”, bonito and false albacore, heat up in mid August and stay through October. In mid September through mid October, the premier fishing tournament on the East Coast, the Annual Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby takes place on the Vineyard and who better to fish the tournament with than its President for more than two decades, Captain Ed Jerome.
Enjoy a Sunset Cruise - perfect for dinner parties, weddings and special events. So, make your plans soon and come to Martha’s Vineyard for a scenic cruise onboard the Wayfarer with Captain Ed Jerome.
The Captain's Weekly Fishing Report >
August fishing has been difficult it you have been strictly fishing for stripers. After the July 4th storm, they didn’t come back with any consistency. However, the bluefish are plentiful and are getting larger as we head into the end of the month and early September. The fluke and black bass season has been one of the best in many years. Those that have opted for these great eating fish have had lots of fun with good numbers of large fluke up to 7 lbs and black bass in the 5-6 lbs. range. Bonito have finally showed up in their usual first spots and in reasonable numbers. Their numbers should improve until those feisty albies show up in a week or two and force the smaller bonito to spread out around the island. It is a typical August and is starting to show signs of fall when all of these fish are in great supply.
